These stainless steel ramekins expand the realm of possibility for what you can make in your Tatung Electric Steamer. You can prepare dim sum-style spare ribs, steamed egg, sweet custard puddings, and even traditional Taiwanese rice puddings.

Known alternatively in Chinese as mi gao tong 米糕筒 (literally "rice cake tube"), these containers are commonly used in Taiwan as molds for tong zi mi gao 筒仔米糕 (aka tâng-á-bí-ko in Taiwanese), a savory sticky rice dish flavored with shiitake mushroom, pork, and fried shallot. Pack your ingredients into a ramekin, pop it in the Tatung, then turn it out onto a plate once it’s done steaming.

Though these were originally designed for mi gao, they can be used for many other things. In a pinch, you can fit multiple ramekins in your Tatung to reheat small portions of rice, veggies, and soup all at once for an easy meal. Four ramekins fit inside a 6-cup Tatung, and five fit inside an 11-cup.

Because they’re made from stainless steel, the ramekins are corrosion-resistant and non-reactive when exposed to acidic foods. They’re easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and oven safe.
