This half-inch pin from our favorite souvenir store in Taipei is a tribute to the Tatung Electric Steamer, of which we're the exclusive U.S. retailer of the iconic green and red colorways.

Before the electric steamer was invented and popularized in Taiwan, Taiwanese families were cooking meals outside on coals. It was a social revolution when steam cookers came on the scene in the 1960s, and the timbre of Taiwanese home cooking has never been the same.

Today, almost every Taiwanese household has a Tatung steamer in their kitchen. It is a utilitarian necessity and a cultural icon representative of everyday life in Taiwan.
