Red Guava Frozen Yogurt
Taiwan, guava with plum powder is a common pairing—the tart, salty, and anisette plum powder complements the floral notes of the guava beautifully. This recipe is a spin on this classic flavor combination, turning our Red Guava Jam into a guava frozen yogurt sprinkled generously with plum powder.
Red Guava Frozen Yogurt
紅心芭樂優格冰淇淋
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Red Guava Jam (but really, put as much or as little as you’d like)
- 1 cup whole milk Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon Shangi Taiwanese Plum Powder as garnish (or to taste)
Instructions
- Add the yogurt, sugar, corn syrup and salt into a food processor. Blend until fluffy and smooth.
- Remove from blender and pour into a freeze-proof container.
- Add the red guava jam, and mix in with a spatula or chopsticks.
- Place a piece of parchment paper directly on top of the yogurt to prevent ice crystals. Freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight. For a smoother texture, you can stir the frozen yogurt every 30 minutes to break up the ice crystals until it’s unable to be stirred.
- Before serving, allow the frozen yogurt to sit at room temperature for a few minutes until it is soft enough to scoop.
- Finish with a generous sprinkle of plum powder. Enjoy over a slice of holiday pie, or as is.
